So very sorry to her of her complications. I can only imagine the fear and stress you must both be experiencing. I am happy that she is now under medical supervision and I pray that she has a very speedy recovery.

My mother has been been in the hospital for 4 weeks and had been fighting for her life it has went from one extreme to the other. The hospital said they have been seeing frequent complications from patients having this procedure in Mexico and don't recommend it be done. Her small intestine was nicked and infection had set up, she has had several procedures and surgeries done as a result of this complication she even stopped breathing for 3 minutes but through this all God has her protected.

I'm so sorry to hear that she has not made a full recovery as yet. It must be very difficult for her, and for you as her support. I will continue to pray for her for her recovery to be speedy and complete, and for you to continue to find the strength to be by her side.

So sorry to hear about your mother's complications. I know she's been having a hard time ever since coming home. Could I ask who her surgeon was? Is the hospital you are at seeing the same type of complications from the same surgeon?

I had a friend who had lap band surgery in Idaho Falls, ID and the surgeon nicked her intestine (so much for a less invasive procedure). She ended up being life flighted to Salt Lake City within days when she became septic. She was in and out of the hospital for months. Her experience is what sent me to Mexico to a surgeon with more experience and no major complications.

Yes notified surgeon would not respond for a long time she had to have emergency surgery so at that point that hospital had to do what was best for her no the surgeons have not been involved they even denied that something was wrong with her stated the surgery went well

So do you mind sharing the name of her surgeon? I think it would be important for others that are researching Mexico options to know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
