8 days post op cheater :/

Recommended Posts

Well Im not really cheating.. I drink my Protein Shakes like I should a week out. I make my 9 oz Protein shake and drink 3oz for Breakfast lunch and dinner.. and my Water . Still having trouble with plain water bc it hurts going down but at night I wake out of my sleep from hunger pains.. ive been sipping water to get me through the night but now its annoying..

So! I was told not to have fruits or veggies until a month out and I tested out a bite of mango and it did not bother me. So I blended a whole mango, filled with water a few ice cubes and a shot of light apple juice and its heaven!.. im sipping on some now before I go to bed and freeze for tomorrow night. Its just a little some thing to let me sleep through the night. If I can have sugar free juice why cant I make my own natural juice? Can anyone else stomach anything else besides shakes and water? I feel like this surgery isn't making me sick like alot of posts I see.. am I lucky? Lol

Are you supposed to be having only 9 oz. of Protein throughout the course of the day? Most post-op plans would expect you to drink 3-- 9 oz. shakes so you can get the necessary protein. (Around 60 g.) How many grams of protein are you drinking? Also, ALL juices have sugar in them, even 100% juice. Sugar is sugar, and it has calories. If you are looking to drink something sweet, drink a zero calorie drink. If you are hungry at night, try another Protein Shake.< /p>

I think you really have to ask yourself if you are in this for the long haul? If you can cheat within the first month or so is this going to end up as another failed weight loss attempt?

For me I know I have to push the boundries. I have decided that I have to listen and trust what I am told as apparently I haven't succeed do my own. I have pushed every rule that was put in front of me from every weight loss program I have ever tried. And guess what? I have never succeeded! What a surprise. I plan on following the rules, do as I'm told because I have never lost and maintained a healthy weight. I'm putting my faith in the pros now....

I've read a lot of posts where people feel like they have hunger pains and ended up just needing a PPI like Prilosec, to decrease the amount of acid in their new tummy.

Also, Protein deficits now, usually equates to Hair loss 3-4 months down the road. Clarify with your doctor or nutritionist how much your daily protein intake should be. Best wishes to you! And one "cheat" doesn't define you. Get back on track, you can do this!

9 oz shake with double the serving of protein. I forgot to add that. And the shakes are boring me.. im going to buy unflavored protein for my smoothies

I am starting week 5 post op. I grew tired of my Protein shakes also. I found Isopure zero carb 40 gr Protein Drink. I use it for 20 oz of my Water requirement usually (sipping 10 oz in morning and 10 oz in evening). I also make my own sugar free popsicles with limes, apple melon Isopure , Water and splenda I enjoy them before bed and seem to hold over till morning.

My doctor heavily encourages blended fruit shakes with added Protein. He mixed me one up the last time I was in the office that had strawberry blueberry orange and a few other fruits with Unjury protein.

Ok, where is your doctor? Making protein fruit shakes for patients? I'm jealous.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
