Unhappysleever 39 Posted August 14, 2014 Are people hitting their Protein goals when they started eating normal food. I have just reached 7 mths and maximum I can do is 50grms, sure I don't do shakes but this is around the same amount I used to consume prior to wls... une nouvelle vie 327 Posted August 14, 2014 I hit mine but I'm also horribly boring with my eating and tend to eat the same things every day. I don't use shakes or Protein powder anymore, just by food. In fact, my nutritionist and surgeon told me to back off my Protein daily (I was up to 90g a day) to make room for carbs. butterfyeffect 257 Posted August 14, 2014 I hit my goal of 60-70g per day with one Protein shake. I don't know how I could eat enough food to get there without grazing all day.
une nouvelle vie 327 Posted August 14, 2014 I eat over 60g of Protein a day without grazing all day and most days I eat less than 500 calories a day. We're all different though and as long as we fit our Protein in, it's all good as far as I can tell @Unhappysleever... at the point you are now, how many times a day are you eating and how much food are you eating during those times? Are your meals 2oz? 3oz? 4oz? 6oz? Are you opposed to protein shakes/powders? Some people use them while others don't, but if you need them to meet your goal I say drink away! blondebomb 580 Posted August 15, 2014 Hitting the required min of 60 for women will keep a person from losing muscle an hair...I still can't get in over 700 cal a day..my Protein is on target I still drink Protein Shake for Breakfast it's easy an taste like coffee so I'm good! If I get busy thru the day an don't really care about solid verses shake I would just assume drink a shake an eat at dinner an later snack. .

I used to love shakes now they are just blah I would rather try to get my Protein from food but going by some replies I am not going to stress about it

Kindle 8,667 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) I've met 60g Protein goal since 1 week post. Even at 7 1/2 months I still have a protein/fiber smoothie everyday. I make it with 30-40g Protein and around 10g Fiber. Besides the shake I eat 4-5 balanced meals/snacks each day with protein first, then veggies, fruit and whole grains. As for the "blah", you can always change up your flavors. Here's what I've had in the last 8 days... Premier Protein chocolate with skim milk and banana Muscle Milk red velvet cake Protein Powder blended with raspberries Muscle Milk cake batter with Torani SF gingerbread Syrup Syntrax Matrix vanilla with Torani SF pumpkin pie syrup Spiru-lein banana Protein Powder with strawberry 1% milk Syntrax nectar lemonade mixed with Syntrax Nectar cherry Syntrax Nectar fuzzy navel with puréed peaches Garden of Life Raw Protein vanilla with Torani SF hazelnut syrup And I'm kind of in the mood for Peanut Butter, so tomorrow I will add PB2 to either a vanilla or chocolate shake. Not sure which yet. I definitely couldn't meet protein goals without my shake. Edited August 15, 2014 by Kindle 1 maxcimax reacted to this
maxcimax 220 Posted August 15, 2014 I start everyday with a Protein Shake. At the end of the day if I'm short on Protein I will drink another one or 1/2 of one. I have a friend that is 3 years post op & still drinks a shake everyday & a Protein Bar as well. She is in great shape skin & muscle wise & she says it's because she drinks the shakes. I intend to do the same. 1 Kindle reacted to this

Maybe you could tell me what you eat all day. I have not been able to master this so that I could lose weight. I am just staying the same. une nouvelle vie 327 Posted August 16, 2014 Dear une nouvelle I read your post that you get a lot of Protein all day. Maybe you could tell me what you eat all day. I have not been able to master this so that I could lose weight. I am just staying the same. Thanks so much JewelJ At the point where I am (soft foods) my program has a suggested 4-6oz per meal portion size but I'm trying hard to undereat my sleeve (especially since I've yet to feel the big restriction so many people mention feeling) so I shoot for 3-4oz of food at each meal. Keep in mind, I keep it BORING because variety is going to set me off track at this point. Meal 1: 2oz of center cut pork chop 12g Protein 1/3 of a banana for the carbs Meal 2: 2oz of chicken breast 13g protein 1/3 of a banana for the carbs Meal 3: 2oz of chicken breast 13g protein last 1/3 of the banana for the carbs Meal 4: 2oz of chicken breast 13g protein (told you I was boring) 1oz of beechnut honeycrisp apples baby food (it's good!) Meal 5: 2oz of tilapia 11g protein 2 tablespoons of greek yogurt 3g protein Soon I will eat: Meal 6: 1 stick of Frigo string cheese 7g protein A lot of people would be bored out of their mind eating the same stuff all day I like do, but I know myself and need to keep it simple at this point. I used to just eat 3oz of meat each meal but backed down to 2oz most meals so I would have room for carbs. I took the PROTEIN ALWAYS thing too far at first. playlikeworldchamps 595 Posted August 16, 2014 I used string cheese, and Greek yogurt for Snacks. I used to eat chobani fruit flavors but so much sugar so instead I mix fruit with Fage plain yogurt (about 22g per 8 ounces!) or I mix a Dannon lite and fit Greek fruit flavored with a plain Fage and get about 30g Protein and 180 calories. Yum! I will eat 2-3 Quest bars a week and also 1-2 GNC ready to drink shakes. That it 20-25g Protein in one of to either of those!
