Calimomof3 20 Posted August 14, 2014 I'm new to myfitnesspal.com and in the nutrition area it shows a chart of the percentage of carbs, Protein and fat intake per day -- I see that my goals say 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein ---- but should those percentages be different for those of us who have been sleeved?? 1 tnpeach reacted to this
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted August 14, 2014 Yes -- our proportions are different . And not long ago someone posted how to adjust those MFP percentages. But I can't find the instrucs here now, and I can't figure it out on MFP. So if anyone who sees this thread knows how to adjust those proportions, please post it here. Thanks, in advance. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 14, 2014 It's easiest to do on the web, not via the app. On the web, go to the My Home tab, then the Goals sub-tab, then the green Change Goals rectangular button, switch the radio button from the default "Guided" to "Custom", then click the green "Continue" button, then you will get the screen that allows you to change all of your percentages, calorie intake, etc. 2 VSGAnn2014 and Zoey716 reacted to this
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted August 14, 2014 Thank you, Bufflehead! What Protein / carb / fat proportions do you recommend?
Zoey716 98 Posted August 14, 2014 @@VSGAnn2014 - you will require different levels of carbs/protein and fat depending on where you are post surgery. Also your levels may be different depending on your activity level. Check with your surgeon or nutritionist for those guidelines. Best of luck to you! 2 Bufflehead and VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 14, 2014 @@VSGAnn2014 definitely you will want to check with your own program for their guidelines. For the first year out, I was eating a max 800 calories per day and the guidelines given to me by my program were based on absolute numbers of carbs, Protein, fat grams, etc. I translated them the best I could into MFP as: carbs 30% (max 60 grams) protein 35% (min 70 grams) fat 35% (max 31 grams) My actual guidelines were to eat between 30 and 60 grams of carbs, at least 75 grams of protein, and no more than 30 grams of fat. But MFP only allows rough adjustments, in 5% increments, so I couldn't get it to say that exactly. But it was easy enough to remember my guidelines and follow them using what MFP gave me. It was close enough. 1 VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) @@Bufflehead, look at you! I've just realized that you've lost 186 pounds in 14 months. Good freakin' mama! That's an average of 13.3 pounds a month! I realize that you may have lost some weight prior to surgery, but still! You are one motivated woman. How in the world did you catch fire (motivation) in this way and put the pedal to the metal (keep so disciplined) for so long?
