I guess I didn't get real good guidelines on eating. I didn't know I should eat 6 times a day. I was given stages and such but that is about it. My first Dr retired during my 6 month Dr supervised diet so I got a new Dr on month 4. I work in a call center. So I make 2 Protein Shakes in the morning and sip on them and Water all day. Then I eat dinner with my family. Usually I have to have a bite of something a bit later in the day too. Usually string cheese. It has worked for me so far.

I think every doc and plan is different. The doc I chose has a really comprehensive program with lots of support staff, which is great. But, it's crazy how different the post op guidelines can be. I think, go with whatever is working. I think the 6 meals a day on my plan is to make sure we get enough nutrition and stave off hunger. So far, I'm doing good even without getting 6 meals. I'll have to work up to that.

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. It's great to read everyone's highs and lows and what's working for them. We have a few that have really had a tough time of it, and it's nice to see the support from the group encouraging them along. I've FINALLY broken through that first stall and have resumed losing again - thought it would never happen. I learned today that broccoli is not my friend, no matter how soft I cook it. Guess that's a pre-op food that I won't get to enjoy anymore. Not that it's anything to be proud of, but I had two jelly Beans today - and I think I saw angels float across the room! Those little ditties tasted like gold!!!! I certainly won't make it a habit, but I needed something small and easy to conceal to kill a sweet craving I was having during a training session at work, and they fit the bill!

Hope everyone is continuing to enjoy this journey!

Glad to hear you are doing well. I'm finally able to eat raw veggies again so I'm like you having lots of trial and error. The hardest part lately was having family over and going out a lot to restaurants. Having way too many leftovers! I've lost 18.5 lbs so far and hopefully some more before the month is over :)

My surgery was on July 29th. I have lost a little over 20 pounds since the surgery. I have been reading everyone's post and they have been super helpful. I m experiencing a slight stall and it's frustrating, however, if I hadn't read everyone's post I wouldn't have know that it is normal. So THANK YOU.

It's ok Angel. We had a big formal dinner with my husbands company last night I had half a glass of wine that lasted my all night and a bite of cheesecake that was heaven.

Today I weigh 2 pounds more than yesterday. So now I have to step it up today!

I am doing well, hit a stall. I know I need to be exercising more. I am super bored with the food I am eating. Yogurt, cheese sticks, chicken. Need something else, ideas?

I hear ya!! I'm having the same issue! Time to search for recipes I guess

I had my second follow up appointment last week and my doctor was like why aren't you doing more than walking?? I was super annoyed and wanted to be like because you didn't say I could yet!! But now I'm nice and sore all over trying to build the muscle up and it is great!! Going to take time but I'm really enjoying it but like you said above, getting bored with the food and have to step if up. I'm not much of a cook so easier is better and I'm still working in new veggies but a salad sounds so good! Know what I'm having for lunch today! Make it a great day everyone!!

July 23 for me. I'm 52 lbs down total, 28 lbs since surgery. I've had 2 rehospitalizations and a 5 day initial stay due to a GI bleed. I've had a stricture, blockage and an infection. I finally seem to be on the road to feeling better. I'm walking as much as possible, but I'm really struggling to get in enough Water. I have a post op visit on August 29, so I'm looking forward to talking to my surgeon.

One thing that has driven me nuts is the 3 week stall. I hit it at 2 weeks out due to the pre op diet and stayed there for two weeks. I'm crazy about weighing in and even though the surgeon and his nurse told me not to weigh in every day, I do. It's important for me to see that scale moving down.

I had to buy new clothes already. I've gone down 2 sizes in my pants and shirt and 1 size in my bra. It's so surreal to have to put clothes back because they're too big.

I am so glad you shared that. I thought I was going nuts because I have absolutely NO interest in eating. I'm good on fluids but as far as eating, I know I'm not getting the calories that I should. I can't even begin to get down the amounts that my NUT has outlined so I'm not sure what to do. I guess I need to reach out to her for some guidance.

Hi Angel on Monday I had my two month anniversary. I am doing really well. I don't have any interest in eating I eat because I know I have to get Protein. It's very different it's now that I eat to live not live to eat.

On Saturday I'm walking my first 5K. I walk on average of 6 to 7 miles per day .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
