Amazing documentaries on Disordered eating

Recommended Posts

I just found the most fantastic video's on Netflix that have two experts teaching those of us that are overweight how to deal with mental hunger. They teach what are good food choices. The doctor is an eating disordered specialist. Then JJ is an amazing expert nutritionist. the two of them take numerous cases of obese people and turn their lives around to eating healthy again. It is compelling programming. Everyone here should see these videos. I found them on Netflix. One is called Freaky eating and the second one is called Ruby, They are truly inspiring to all of us here on this site.

I learned so very much and I know you will learn a lot to by watching them. They also have one video on a 600 pound lady who gets WLS and succeeds. I think all of you out there will learn from them. Netflix is where I found them and they have taught me so many great avenues to loses weight. I hope you all can go to Netflix and see them yourselfs. So very much to learn from these documentaries. I hope my sharing them with you will help you on your journeys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for this info , I was going to have revision surgery on the 21st of August 2014 yesterday and when I was in the OR I flatlined before they even started. Time to reconsider my lifestyle and maybe try to use my lapband again and do what I did to prepare for this surgery. I lost 20 pounds in the last 3 weeks.

Good luck everyone. The lapband is a tool. We need to work with it. Up the activity level, correct eating and most important is positive outlook

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
