Ivowtodoit 30 Posted August 12, 2014 Hi I'm 6 weeks post op I was eating bake fish and broccoli with avocado. At first eating with no problem all of a sudden stomach and chest pain I thought I was going to lose my mind, mouth watering running to the bathroom. I did feel a little better I'm still burping food is going up and down like a yo-yo I think I'm stuck no more broccoli!! I'm so upset with myself I can't sip on anything because I'm back in the bathroom. What do I do?
2muchfun 8,927 Posted August 12, 2014 If the broccoli is in your pouch, stomach acids will break it down and will pass within an hour. Now don't you wish you would have taken the nutritionist more seriously when she said fingernail sized bites and chew, chew, chew? But, for some, broccoli in any size or shape won't pass so add that one to your list of don'ts till you learn to eat like a Bandster. 5 Ivowtodoit, labwalker, catfish87 and 2 others reacted to this

Bandista 7,466 Posted August 12, 2014 Hi there -- unfortunately this is how I had to learn up on what works well for me. For example avocado pieces not smushed up are too slippery for me, as are beets in any form. But I can chew up an apple with the skin on it no problem. We are all different but one thing we have in common in the beginning is how hard it is to learn to go very slowly and chew, chew, chew. 2 Debbie3sons and Ivowtodoit reacted to this

JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted August 12, 2014 Thanks for your replies, feeling better I will chew chew chew!!!! I will wait 1 min before my next very small bite. I learned my lesson the hard way I never want to go through that again!!! Been there, done that. For me it was pork chops. Tried them not once, but twice. Won't try them a third time. And now I know at the first sense of feeling that sensation, I need to STOP EATING! What on God's green earth made me think another swallow of food would HELP? LOL. Live and learn. 2 Debbie3sons and 2muchfun reacted to this
Debbie3sons 1,936 Posted August 13, 2014 Not to be mean , but it will happen again on other foods but you will learn as we all did , well it sounds as if you had your stop signals remember them and how it felt and you will know when that time comes again , it's no fun , but you will know to say not another bite , this is my humor . Lady VS 1,147 Posted August 13, 2014 Broccoli and other veggies and some meats this early on may require you to blend it up really good before consuming them. I think the correct term is puree? Hope you feel better. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
