The New Me Journey Has Begun

Recommended Posts

I have started this awesome journey that I know will change my life forever. On June 16, 2014, I finally started this journey with my husband by my side. I am kind of nervous but I know it's the best decision I can make for me.

June 16, 2014 - First visit to Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics in Atlanta, GA.

June 28, 2014 - Started the required 6 months weight loss program

July 31, 2014 - I met with the nutritional eval, had EKG and PFT.

August 28, 2014 - Stress Test Scheduled

Everything is moving right along; I know December will be here before I know it. I am just taking it one day at a time and looking forward to that day.

Blessed and Highly Favored

being nervous, stressed, excited are all comon emotions prior to WLS - and even post WLS :)

glad you have support from your hubby :)

any/all support you can gelt is very helpful :)

continue your research :)

read these boards, they are very helpful:)

maybe experiment with some of the important rules of WLS

if you smke - you must stop!!!!

if you are a big coffee drinker - prepare to slow down

eventually your doc probably will allow some coffee

all docs/NUTS have differen rules

only listen to you medical peoplke;)

"mosts" docs also don't allow straws

practice Water rules such as

don't ever, ever drink during meals

de not ever, ever drink for about 45-60 minutes after you eat

many other basic rules you can look "forward";) to

practicing some things will put you ahead of the game

December WILL be here before you know it:)

good luck

kathy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
