GingerSlim 128 Posted August 12, 2014 How soon after surgery is it ok to eat Protein Bars? I think my Quest bars would do me some good right now. And why do doctors say that Protein bars are not to take the place of the shakes? ??
sunflowerchild 146 Posted August 12, 2014 How soon after surgery is it ok to eat Protein bars? I think my Quest bars would do me some good right now. And why do doctors say that protein bars are not to take the place of the shakes? ?? My NUT said that protein bars are okay 4 weeks post op. I haven't heard anything about not doing bars in place of shakes long term after surgery but short term the bars are too hard on your stomach. 1 SD Kelly reacted to this

fezik23 240 Posted August 12, 2014 I was told that the Protein bars aren't as readily absorbed as the shakes, so you don't get the same quality of nutrition. But who knows?
woo woo 872 Posted August 12, 2014 I also think they are heavier on the carbs and can slow your weight loss if used too much. 1 maxcimax reacted to this
