As long as you come off as being knowledgable and realistic about wls (it's not a quick fix, it is major surgery, etc.) you should be fine. I went in to the psych eval with a history of bulimia and after reassuring the doc that I am in a different state of mind now, I was cleared. Is there something specific you are worried about the doc asking you? Like something you don't know how to respond to?

Yes ...there is. Can you text me on my cellphone? I'm going to pm you my number okay?

My psych eval was denied the first time and I had many conflicting thoughts. He thought I needed to work on my snacking before he would approve. The second visit about 5 weeks later went much smoother and he had no problem signing off.

any psychologist who diagnoses someone with depression based on crying in a session sucks. so guessing you didnt see whatever diagnostic measure he used to determine her depression. those shows are heavily edited. depression presents with very specific symptoms. while excessive or inappropriate crying might be one of them, its not how a mental health professional would diagnose it.

anyone with untreated depression should not be approved for surgery. depression should be treated and managed before someone attempts life changing surgery.

expressing emotion in at the psych eval is normal and natural. you should strive to be honest and your true self at the eval. just be who you are and answer the questions as truthfully as possible. the therapist is there to help you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
