Calories per day

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, how many calories are you eating a day. I am six weeks out from VGS and was eating 500 to 600 a day. Then I re read my instructions and realized I wasn't drinking my Protein Drinks. Then I added them in and I am now eating 800 to a 1000. I am gaining weight [2 pounds] in the last three days. What should I do? Anyone had experience with this problem. Am I eating too much, I am on mushie foods. Scrambled egg, half a piece of toast, tuna and mayo with 4 soda crackers, and Chili with Beans for supper. Then two Protein drinks. I measure the tuna and It is 1/2 a cup and the chili is 1/2 cup too. I would appreciate anyone else who was sleeved on July 1st or there about helping me out with this problem. Thanks

A pound or two up on any given day is not unusual. If you are not required to get 1000 of the Protein then only do one shake. You would have to eat 3600 extra calories to really gain one pound. It can be Water, that time of the month even a stall at this point. Sounds like you are doing good. No need to panic.

Water weight from sodium. Push more fluids (water) and do not skip Protein. Protein deficits today are what causes hair shedding months down the road.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
