Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm a newbie to this site. I was sleeved on 7/30 so far so good, with the exception of not getting all of my fluids or Protein most days???? but I know that will come in time. My question is do you all have any suggestions for a good Gummy complete Multivitamin or any good Vitamin tricks of the trade if you will? I am looking for helpful suggestions to make this new transition a little easier. Thanks!

I use Trader Joe's High Potency multi chewables - for the first year I took a double dose. My labs have always been great. Oh and for the first few weeks after surgery I did a double dose of liquid multi-vitamins, Wellesse brand. You can buy that at Amazon or I think at Vitamin Shoppe/GNC type places. I was also told no gummies as they tend to be incomplete plus higher calorie and carb than other Vitamins.< /p>

i was also told no gummies but like all things bariatric, each program is different!

as far as i know there are no gummies on the market that have Iron in them, so you would need to do supplemental Iron dosing. i started out with Centrum children's chewables 2 a day and now i'm taking Twin Lab Bariatric chewable once a day.

not a fan of chewables and next i'm going to try a liquid version that somebody on here pointed out to me.

The taste of the Flintstone Vitamins made me gag now at pre-op, so I'm a little worried about the taste of them post op.

I'm pretty surprised that people's nutritionists/surgeons are okay with just 2 Flintstones Vitamins a day. My nutritionist and surgeon want me on 3 bariatric Multivitamins per day for life!

My doc said no Vitamins until my follow up (on 8/22). I'm taking 2 flintstones just because I like them and they can't hurt.

It was Ok to take birth control and thryoid meds. These are very small so I swallow them. Is anyone cutting regular Vitamins and taking them? I tried crushing them but gagged on powder and couldn't chug down Water to wash off taste fast enough so no thanks.

This is on list of issues for doc at follow up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
