She had major surgery, give her a week or two to recuperate! For some it can even take a month or more, my mom was that way when she had her Gastric Bypass. Just help her focus on getting all her fluids and Protein, and take supplements if recommended by her surgeon.

I was reading these posts of people who went back to work in a few days to one week. I was amazed because I was completely exhausted for the first 10 days. I felt so weak one day I cried. I was also on Clear Liquids and probably getting about 40 calories a day from chicken broth. Tell her to say encouraged. She will begin to feel better. Bt the 12th day I suddenly began to feel more like my self. I was also having Protein Shakes and real Soup. I'm three weeks out and while I feel back to my old self, there are times when I suddenly feel exausted.

My mother is doing so much better I took her to the doctor yesterday to do a follow up visit since she had her surgery in Mexico. The doctor switched her antibiotic because she couldn't tolerate it, gave her a stronger pain medication with stool softener and added prednisone to decrease inflammation and maybe muscle spasms. They also did X-ray. Her appetite was improving but it's better doing more fluids her energy is slowly improving she even had her first bowel movement today. So I can say I'm relieved I was getting a little scared because I know how serious it is to stay hydrated. I thank everyone for there input because it really helped and I was reading a lot of the post to my mother and it encouraged her thanks everyone!

I had surgery August 1 and I still tire easily. I'm 55 years old. I usually have a nap in the afternoon and then I'm ready to go until about 10 at night. It is getting better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
