itsmekarenlee 129 Posted August 11, 2014 For as little as we eat how do we not get charged for a full buffet? They can be expensive. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this

esskay77 785 Posted August 11, 2014 You will always be charged full price. And it really is in your best interest to avoid buffets. You need to become a food snob! lol 1 shmily reacted to this
itsmekarenlee 129 Posted August 11, 2014 Yes but it has been a tradition for us to go to a buffet every year with my son's friends after band performance and prom. He can go by himself but it's his last year and they like is to go with them. I could just ask if they just serve appetizers and hubby and I can share. itsmekarenlee 129 Posted August 12, 2014 I shouldn't have to explain why. I just wanted an answer to my question, not people telling me what I should or shouldn't do. Thanks.
shmily 424 Posted August 12, 2014 Then by all means, go
itsmekarenlee 129 Posted August 12, 2014 Thanks. I will and I will enjoy myself too with my son and friends because it will be the last. I am fully aware of the 'danger' of over eating at a buffet and in my original post I even said "how little we eat", implying I won't be eating that much therefore not over eating because I am not going through all of this to get skinny only to gorge myself on buffet food. I'm not that dumb. I just wanted to know, by others who have been to buffets, because there has GOT to be other people who have been to a buffet after wls for whatever reason, and how they handled it or if they showed their WLS Card or talked to the cashier about ordering a children's size plate and if that was allowed. I should have been more specific about that in my OP.Fortunately, I've learned since asking this question, the buffet we go to offers appetizers in which my husband and I will share one. Thank you for everyone's replies.
esskay77 785 Posted August 12, 2014 On a business trip, our group went to a buffet at a Chinese Restaurant. It was HUGE!!! And I was scared! I started out getting some items off the buffet, mostly just Protein stuff. And then I discovered that they also had a normal salad bar so I ditched the rest of my food and made a salad of protein and then some veggies. I didn't have a choice of where to eat so sometimes you do get stuck at a buffet. They don't charge less because anyone can say that they aren't going to eat much and they have no way to monitor that. So, as you have found out, sometimes you can order off a menu instead. Or sometimes you just have to deal and do the best you can with what you have.
dbsylvest 21 Posted August 12, 2014 My group of doctors gives there WLS clients a card that states we can only eat a small amt. of food and some have said its illegal not to allow u to eat a child portion if it's on the menus
