th9409 0 Posted August 11, 2014 Hey everyone! Quick question... I am exploring the possibility of having Gastric Bypass--I just found out that my insurance DOES cover this procedure (80%)--this was a great relief. However, I noticed one of the requirements for my insurance is "a diagnosed case of morbid obesity for 5 years from a physician". This is concerning because I haven't been to a regular primary physician in several years. Asides from being morbidly obese (my current BMI is 55), I have been very "healthy" and haven't needed to go to a doctor. Question--will this be a "deal breaker" for my insurance because there's no way I have this since I haven't been to a doctor in over 5 years. I appreciate everyone's input! ambieambs 54 Posted August 11, 2014 I don't know if this would help at all, but did you have a high bmi the last time that you did see a doctor? If so maybe get the records showing that you do have a history of it. I don't know if it will work or not, but it's worth a try. Good luck. I hope you get approved for your surgery.
