Thanks guys. I am back!!!

My experience in the hospital was absolutely phenomenal until I was taken to my room after recovery. Remember this was NOT at TLBC, but at Scarborough Grace Hospital. Mostly I think the nursing staff on the surgical ward are overworked, but enough of that.

When I went in yesterday morning the day surgery staff was so wonderful. Truly caring and very supportive. The pharmacist, Dr. Yau and the anaesthesiologist all came to talk to mr. Dr Yau was so very supportive and I think I now have a crush on him! :embarassed:

They walked me into the operating room and just as I was breathing deep in to the mask and thinking that I didn't feel sleepy, I woke up in recovery! Dr. Yau was there, told me that everything went really well and that he put in a Swedish band. My recovery nurse Cathy was a darling and then abouto an hour later - up I went to my room. I think I'll skip that part. Dr. Yau came in a little later that afternoon to see how I was doing and even called early this morning to talk to my night nurse. Did I mention that I have a crush on him????:embarassed: LOL

I was discharged around 11:00 this morning with a scrip for Tylenol 3, which I am making use of. Other than that I feel great. I am now on the banded side and looking forward to the future. I am not hungry at all, so I have been sipping Water and cranberry juice all day.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, giving me support, hope and comfort and lots of good laughs. I plan to stick around and join you in sharing triumps and tribulations, welcoming newbies and celebrating all the milestones to come.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
