Mine would have to be running. What about yours? What do you like to do to get in shape?

I love hitting the weight room and working my legs. Lunges are my favorite. For cardio nothing beats mountain biking.

I would say riding my bicycle or running on the treadmill at the gym. Not really an outdoor runner.

My favorite is walking. I have been doing 3.5-5 miles per day. I am trying to get back up to my old time of 5 miles in an hour and 15 minutes. That and riding my bike but I have a busted tube so I haven't been doing that lately. No running for me because I have some problems with the tendons in my ankle. I get to swim once in a while at my in laws house but I end up being negative calories for the day and realllllly tired. I also got the hip hop abs dvds and have done those a few times for cardio.

I don't have a favorite yet but right now I am doing Zumba, weight training, walking and trying a bit of running but not doing great at it yet. Will keep trying though! I actually run (or jog) further than I had expected but still not far yet. Walking is always the easiest, yet effective.

At the moment I work out at the gym and some walking and cycling as well, but I want to start doing some classes again as well like zumba or pilates as that is more fun than just cardio/lifting

For me, it is all about hiking. I'm not ready to conquer any 14'ers yet, but have really enjoyed all of the mountain hikes I've gone on this summer.

Once the snow starts to fly I'll have to find a new fave for a few months, but I'm hoping for another 3 months before I have to worry about that.

Did any of you take up running for the first time after surgery? I'd like to start running - but I have literally never been a good runner. Even when I was thin in high school, running was awful for me and I was so SLOW! Running seems like a really popular exersize to take up post WLS, but I'm really nervous about it.

I'm just beginnning to try running. I was never a runner either. I can't run very far but I do go farther than I thought I could go. There is something called the "couch to 5K" that can teach sedentary people how to run. I have to find the info again but you can just google it. It's pretty popular.

I also took up running after wls. I started out with the couch to 5k app, it definitely has been a great tool to get you started.

Good luck everyone

I walk right now. Two miles on my breaks at work and do a few exercise videos. I plan on running soon too. I don't think I am quite ready yet. I sighed up for the race for the cure for breast cancer at the end of Sept. Luckily you can either run or walk so I will be ok either way :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
