9 days out and wondering why I don't feel any different?

Recommended Posts

@@Melanieada I was sleeved on July 29th and have felt great since the day after surgery. I have not had any complications, there have been times when I either ate too much or didn't chew thoroughly enough and my sleeve definitely let me know. I have been astounded by just how well I feel. Just remember our sleeve is a tool and we have to make good choices. Wishing you continued success!

I stay between 600-800cal. Not really intentionally. I just log my Protein and the rest of the info is put in as well. But I'm worried my body thinks I'm starving it. I want to lose of course. Lol

@@Dragonfly1111 I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Most people pause in their weight loss sometime in the early weeks after surgery - and then repeatedly as time progresses. If you plot your weight loss on a graph it is never going to look like a smooth diagonal line flowing downhill. There will be stops and starts along the way. If you are following your surgeon's plan, just keep going and the weight loss will pick up again. Don't let your body's normal human reactions and variations stress you out.

Check out the "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" sub-forum in the General Weight Loss forums to see what I mean - it really does happen to virtually everyone.

I had my surgery Aug 1....so I am nine days out. I get my Protein shakes in..no problem...I drink Water...sipping and with a straw no problem...I've lost 10 pounds. What I'm confused about is why am I having no problems... everyone else talks about their lactose intolerance or nausea etc. I'm worried my surgery didn't work. I can drink as much as I did BEFORE my surgery..I have ate eggs and mashed potatoes with Isopure Protein powder added. I can't eat but about 5 bites before I feel it so I stop. I'm just scared to death since I have had no problems that my surgery isn't really working... :(

I suppose you were lucky enough to not have any issues. I was not. Def if I were you I would embrace it!!

I don't think you should be using a straw because it does introduce air into the stomach.

If you can only take 5 bites, to me that means your surgery worked.

I was told the straw is better for me because I'm a gulper and have a super hard time sipping...I am going to embrace it..I'm definitely thankful...I was just so confused

Oh, ok. Well if that's what they want you to do, keep it up!

Not everyone has difficulties. So you are right, be happy about that. Congrats!!! You are working towards the new you!

I was sleeved July 22, took no pain meds after day 3, and have had only one problem- I thought I could walk farther than I should, and got super dehydrated. ( my bad) ER fixed me up with a couple if liters of Fluid and I'll be more careful!! Everything is great so far!! After hearing so many horror stories ( which I thought was bull to start with) I'm so happy to be problem free!

Good luck to all!!

I'm jealous, lol I normally carry my tervis cup filled with Water and that straw. I am a gulper too. My doc told me no more straws for life because it encourages gulping. I was bummed, but happy to re gift all my cups with straws to my mom.

I don't think "horror stories" are bull. At all. Who would make that stuff up? I just think some people have a hard time with recovery.

Others have an easier time, but don't post as much about their journey because they're out looking for a gym, mowing the yard, planting the back forty.

That's why I love this particular thread. It balances out the reporting. :)

The horror stories are bull? I don't know. I have been in pretty rough shape since my surgery. By day 20 p/o, I had been in the hospital a total of 10 days. Lots of issues.

I don't think they are horror stories, per se, but I know that some have these horror stories.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
