5 days post op - Feeling full all the time

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done last Weds. For the most part I'm feeling better. Still very lethargic and sore. I don't like taking the pain medication except when going to bed. Adjusting to my new stomach size. This morning I had a small thing of Jello and ate it super slow and now I'm full. I was finally able to drink a 6 oz Protein Shake yesterday and it took me 3 hours to get that down because I felt so full. I'm hoping that will get better as my stomach heals, right? Any suggestions on what I can do to get my liquids in?

Exactly what you are doing...Sip, sip and sip some more! :)

Drink some coconut Water to help with electrolytes or G2 Gatorade K

Try to drink one ounce every 15 minutes. Sip it slowly over the entire 15 minutes. That's how I got my fluids and Protein drinks down the first couple of weeks. Fluids are even more important that Protein at first. I've seen many people wind up in the ER for dehydration.

It does get better. Commit to the time and effort to heal yourself and get a good start on your postop life. You are worth it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
