Gurgling, burping, tummy rolling

Recommended Posts

Ok, 4 days post op and every time I take a sip of Water or Protein Shake my stomach or pouch or whatever goes on a tirade. It gurgles and flutters and I have to burp. I have taken the smallest sips and still the gurgling and burping. Is this normal and will it eventually stop?

I am not sure what's normal, but the same thing happened to me. It still does and I am almost a month post op.

I think it's normal, personally. It still happens to me. There is a lot less of the gurgling but my pouch is always doing something weird when I am eating or drinking. I always burp or hiccup when I'm full or drinking too fast so it's kind of helpful in a way.

Ditto at three weeks out. And I swear my old tummy is grumbling and wants food in it. Lol

I'm coming up on 6 months out and mine still does the same thing. The burping necessity has gone away, but the rolling, gurgling noises have remained consistent any time I eat or drink something.

My kids think it is hilarious.

I am 4 months out from Sleeve surgery and still have all of these sounds. It doesn't bother me when I'm alone but it is very embarrassing when I'm around other people. My stomach is actually making the noises while I'm writing this post and I'm not even hungry, lol. I truly hope this doesn't last forever ????????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
