Lifting after Surgery

Getting excited as my surgery date is coming quickly, the only concern I have is how long is it before I'll be able to lift 50 lbs?? My job at times requires me to lift suitcases that can be up to 50 lbs...not sure how long I'll have to be out of work..Did anyone have a similar concern??

Yes, and your surgeon should give you explicit instructions on your lifting restrictions. I couldn't lift anything more than 8 lbs for about four weeks, but surgeons vary in their post-op rules, so check with yours.

Ask your surgeon...everyone is different. I had a 25 pound limit for 3 weeks, then I was back to lifting 50-60 pound dogs and wrestling livestock. In contrast, the vet I work with had an 8 pound limit for 6 weeks after her hysterectomy.
