HHHill 0 Posted August 10, 2014 I had my surgery on July 25th and have been very strict on following the plan I was given. Surgery was outpatient and I had no diffulculties getting in the Protein Shakes, Water, and Vitamins for the first week of full liquids. I am trying to weigh myself once a week and at the one week mark I lost 12 lbs. My plan says to start week 2 with soft foods with Protein goal min of 60g and Fluid goal of 64oz. I have met those requirements with my calories averaging about 500-550 per day. However, at my 2 week mark weigh in I have only dropped .6 lbs. I am walking 30 min every day (approx 2 miles). Does this seem normal so early in the process? I had expected that I would at least loose 2-3 lbs at a minimum. Per the suggestions on this site I have tracked everything using MFP and I am following all the rules. It was very disheartening and frustrating to see my weight yesterday. Anyone else have a major slowdown so early in the process or advice to offer?
SherB 220 Posted August 10, 2014 It is normal to have a stall at anytime in the first month. Some lose nothing at all the first week and drop 15 the second week. I gained 7 pounds of Fluid the first week. The second week I lost that 7 plus 15 more, three days later I dropped 7 more pounds then nothing for almost 2 weeks. Just follow your plan and your stall will pass. 1 maxcimax reacted to this
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 10, 2014 Yes, it's completely normal. Keep following your plan and the weight will come off. Not necessarily in the manner or at the rate you want - but it will come off! Most of us end up losing in a kind of stair step pattern. Don't let it stress you out. 1 unbesleevable1 reacted to this
Kindle 8,667 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Spend some time on here, reading posts and you will see this is normal. EVERYONE experiences this. Use the search function and type in "stall". Or go to the "don't sweat the stall stuff" subforum on here. They created it just for you. http://www.bariatric...tall-stuff-new/ Oh yea, and GET OFF THE SCALE! you will be a lot happier. unbesleevable1 420 Posted August 10, 2014 no such thing as a stall or slow loser. just my opinion but it is just how the body reacts to this type of surgery/ trauma. weight does not fall off continuously at all. it is a documented stair-step phenomenon. you lose, you plateau a little, you lose more, etc etc. do not let yourself get into a negative head space about something that is completely normal. 1 Kindle reacted to this
