Hi, What a GREAT SUCCESS story! Did you have any saggy skin issues? You are so young, I'm hoping you didn't have sagging. Did you have any more issues like craving things you formerly ate? Any "head" issues you had to address? I'm so proud of your success.....just curious if you can offer any tips for me.

Hi all! I'm 44. Had my surgery 5/14/14. HW 235 SW 225 current weight 178! That's 47 pounds gone in under 3 months! I had a long stall at the third week and it lasted 3 weeks. While I wasn't losing pounds I did notice I was losing inches. I just keep telling myself...." This is a marathon, not a sprint"

Im 33 and 5'9 weighed 456 pre surgery, weighed 445 surgery day (7/22/14) and now weigh 416 lost 40lbs since this whole thing started. Lost about 30lbs after surg. Its worth it.

I am just beginning my journey. I was 433. The dr started me on a low carb diet about 2 weeks ago. I have lost 10lbs. It hasn't been as bad as I thought. I will have to step down to the pre op liquid diet two weeks before the surgery which won't be until Oct. I am glad to read about your experience. I have been concerned because I was over 400. My heaviest weight was 465.

Thanks for sharing!

5'6" age 47

First consult September 8, 2013, 235 pounds Size 18 (this is when I count from since this is when I got serious about the lifestyle change)

Surgery Date, October 14, 2013, 223 pounds

November 14, 2013, 194 pounds

April 14, 2014, 160 pounds (6 months)

August 11, 2014, 143 pounds, Size 4 (10 months, 90 pounds lost.) Goal met a few weeks ago.

Secrets? Weigh no more than once per week. Set S.M.A.R.T. goals, (don't set a goal to weigh "x" by when, (this is not within your control). Set a goal to exercise "x" times per week and hit your Protein goals. Do what your medical team tells you. Find a face to face support group. DON'T compare your loss to others!

I do count calories, Proteins, carbs, etc.; everything that goes into my mouth is counted and tracked. My goal is 1,000 calories a day minimum. I usually end up at it oR slightly over. Weekends I usually am at 1,200 calories daily. I get 70. Grams protein minimum, but am usually higher, and get around a minimum of 100 carbs daily. My carbs come from healthy carbs ( fruit, veggies, or dairy). I usually don't eat anything white such as bread, potatoes, crackers or Pasta.< /p>

I do have sagging skin. The worst is in my stomach and my boobs are really bad - long flat and hangy! My arms have hangy skin underneath, but I can live with that. I do need surgery for my stomach and boobs, but I need to put on some weight in order for it to be done.

Yes, I do get craving, and it is almost always for something sweet - ice cream or grappa chino, which makes me mad because I never had a sweet tooth prior to surgery. Salt is what I craved pre- surgery. I crave things that are crunchy.

I don't get hungry too often. I make myself eat at least four to five times a day in order to get in my nutrition. I do get head hunger, but find it happens more on the weekends when I have more time on my hands. I do try to fight it as hard as I can, but if I feel like I have to chew or eat something, I will chew a piece of gum, have a sugar free crest or Popsicle. Trust me, I have given in a few times.

Just remember that this is a lifetime journey and commitment to be healthier. Always hang in there, never give up on yourself or your goals, and every day is a new day.

Had my sleeve done Aug 1, 2014, in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Ramos Kelly at Hospital Angeles. It was awesome! Super nice, clean, we'll equipped hospital that has International Joint status. Nice, private room, and the nurses were very responsive and attentive. Great choice for Hospital Angeles! Dr. Ramos Kelly was my surgeon. He was another great choice! He and his wife Cece did everything they said they would, and then some. First day was brutal, but it got better every day. After 2 nights in the hospital, it was on the Hotel Lucerna, a very nice hotel. I spent two nights there, and Dr. Kelly came to my room regularly to check on me. Then I flew back to the states. I was 170 the morning of surgery. It's been 10 days and I'm 162. I don't regret for one second getting the sleeve done, doing it in Tijuana, Dr. Kelly, or Hospital Angeles. I would recommend that scenario to anyone considering this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
