jessb418 42 Posted August 8, 2014 Did anyone start their fast early? I know this sounds crazy but I was thinking of starting my fast a week early. I feel ready to begin. I have my Protein Shakes, and since I don't meet with my dietician till next week for my two week fast I'm wondering what else you are allowed to have. Did anyone start their fast early and what were you guys allowed to eat? sugar free pops? broth? Protein Bars?
Cupcake 801 Posted August 8, 2014 No I didn't start my fast early but you might want to be careful because trust me you will get sick of the broth after two weeks and then you have to continue with the same broth while you heal, I never want to see broth or sugarfree pudding again lol . By the way congrats on your choice to be healthy . 1 Dawnakers reacted to this

Did anyone start their fast early and what were you guys allowed to eat? sugar free pops? broth? Protein bars? I agree that you shouldn't start too early. I didn't have to do liquids except 1 day prior to surgery. I am now 3 days post op and already miss solids! Not really hungry so what I am feeling is all head hunger. Perhaps just substitute a meal a day with shakes? ?
redwings fan 16 Posted August 9, 2014 I have started weaning myself off some of the things I won't be allowed to have such as pop and cutting down carbs. I've replaced my Breakfast with a Protein Shake. I start my preop diet in a couple weeks. I'm allowed veggies and lean meat on mine.
jessb418 42 Posted August 9, 2014 I just want to be as prepared as possible. My surgery is on 9/2 a day before my birthday. My family is all sad because I won't be having cake...even wanted to make it early so I could have some. Homemade cheesecake..the best. However I have declined. I am finally in the mind set that I am ready to do what needs to be done and want to be in the best possible shape for surgery. After all if an extra week or few extra days of a fast can make things even a little easier for surgery than I'm all for it.
ladyjenn 3 Posted August 9, 2014 Having just gone through the clear liquid diet...I would say wait. I had broth at 11:00am and about 1:00pm my body began revolting against me. I didn't 'eat' the rest of the day. But this is just my personal experience.

ladyjenn 3 Posted August 10, 2014 When? Because of the fast? Yes. The broth and the Jello, along with just Water and apple juice....it was pretty bad for me and I only had to do it for one day. I ended up doing it for two, just in case.
