I bought viactive chewable last night, but I read that anyone who has had surgery like us should stay away from Calcium bicarbonate because it needs acid from stomach to activate and we won't absorb it as well as calcium citrate. Is that true?

I use the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewy bites. I have raspberry, lemon, caramel, and chocolate and I really like them. If you want to pm me I can put a few in an envelope and drop them in the mail to you so you can try the flavors before you buy them? Good luck finding something you like!

Any kind of chocolate chews that you buy in the store are not calcium citrate. We don't absorb Calcium carbonate. Check the label. If it says calcium cabronate, your body is absorbing little or none of it.

I think the only place you can get the chocolate chews in calcium citrate is at Bariatric Advantage. I also get the choc/pb because they have 500 mg in them, the most you can absorb at once.

Wellesse makes a liquid Calcium that's palatable and is sold at Walmart. I ordered the lemon flavor Calcet from Amazon and really like them. They're like a little bite of lemony dessert.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
