How do you do on soft foods like Greek Yogurt, tuna with some light mayo, or a scrambled egg? Have you tried light cheese sticks? Are you able to tolerate Water and Protein shakes? Many people really struggle for a long time with any type of meat, you may be one that just can't eat meat. I have just added rice in now, a year after surgery. I would suggest you stay away from all fruits, veggies, and carbs for now. My clinic suggested that you only add one new food a day. That way if you do react badly, you will know what caused it.

I will watch for your response and will try to help more when I have more info.

Carol

What about cream Soups, chili, refried Beans with cheese and sour cream. Also try canned chicken salad? I'm 4+ months our and still have a hard time with eggs, ground beef and other meats. Keep trying, you'll get there.

Don't worry we are all in the same boat. I am 4.5 months out and I still struggle with food. I don't eat bread, Pasta, rice or potato. I tried them early on and didn't like it and it feels very weird. So I have stopped eating all of it completely. I don't miss it at all. Fruits I don't eat much. Might have half a banana in my shake but that's like maybe once a week. I had some cherries and blueberries but I don't eat much of it cause of the sugars.

I do have ground meats like chicken, turkey or beef. tuna I had early on but didn't like it too much. I will have sashimi no rice time to time. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt, Beans, Protein shakes, cheese, just started to have spinach and that also doesn't always work and I have egg beaters. I can't get regular eggs down and chicken has to be moist or I can't eat it. I also don't drink milk. Have soy milk sometimes. Best to stick with what works for you. Cause it's different for everyone.

Cream of Soups I can only eat couple bites of it. Refried Beans. Dont sit well with me. I eay greek yogurts. But not whole lot. For some reason .since surgery I cant handle foods. But I get hungry. Take four bites then I full or getting sick. I got the eggs beaters. (The whites) I cant handle eggs. So not eatiing them.

I will chicken salad disnt think of that one.

I am trying to keep my prtoien intake up but I am lucky if I get 20 to thirty in me. So went protien shales more then once a day again. Still cant drink a full glass. I heard alot bad things can happen if I don't get protien that need.

I did try some fish thinking it is soft couple of bites and I was done. Had some nausea but the zofran helped.

I had some similar issues I ate too much of a variety of foods too quickly, take it back to liquids and soft foods for a few days. Tell yourself you need to eat so you won't be scared, but choose your foods wisely so you won't be sick. Don't give up you'll find the rt menu for your new tummy.

Have they checked your pouch for a stricture? Sometimes the new openings can scar down & can cause you to have issues like that. My surgeon said he sees it frequently & that they take an endoscopy & stretch your opening so you can pass food from your pouch to the intestines easier. Also have you tried going dairy free? It's common for people to develop dairy issues after this operation. Just thoughts as these were all potential side effects the surgeon just went over with me, wishing you luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
