When do you actually get a date?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so need a little insight here. I had my initial consultation for surgery last month. I did my psych eval, nutrition eval, blood work, and saw my pcp. I go back May 11th, will I get a date then? Do you think his office has already requested approval from insurance? I know I probably seem impatient but the end of the fiscal year is coming up and we are really busy at work from June to August and I would love it if I could have my surgery and be back to work by the time the rush starts. What do you think? Any chance of that?

My Dr. won't give me a date until all of my test results are back. He said that works best because I may have to be on antibiotics for a couple of weeks or may require more test based on the results of the first tests. (My Dr. requires ten different tests to begin with!) Although my insurance co. has already approved the surgery, I can't get a date yet. I would call the Dr's office and ask what their policy is. Good luck! I too, am having difficulty being patient :phanvan

My surgeon will not book me until I have been approved by Cigna and, they have the letter in their hands.

Peace Out,

Thanks for the replies. Seems like it all depends on how the surgeon works and the insurance co. I keep telling myself patience...patience...patience...I'm just getting anxious is all. And, I don't know if it's in my head but I think I'm gaining weight. Ugh!

I am soooo frustrated. I have been trying to get an appt with a psych for the psych eval but can't get anyone to call me back....WHAT IS THE PROBLEM! All I want is a stinking appointment, not blood! I even tried to use my works EAP to help me find and schedule an appt. When you use them they guarentee an appt within 7-10 days and I still can't seem to get anywhere. My insurance doesn't cover the eval, so I have to self pay it so I know they don't have to wait to talk to them......has anyone else had an issue like this? I am by Erie PA, so if anyone knows psychs that maybe they used that are close, I would appreciate the help.

Lee Ann, sorry I'm not anywhere near you so I can't help with finding someone but I can definately relate to what your going thru. Same thing happened to me. I do not understand what the deal is but it is soooo frustrating. Of all the things I had to do the psych eval seemed the most difficult, the actual psych eval itself was a piece of cake once I found someone to do it. Hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
