Today is day 6 post op and I am so tired. At first I decided it was because that I am on liquids but then my husband says....You took your mother to two drs appointments yesterday and probably over did it. That made me think...is this surgery just a minor surgery or does it take time to get over it? Like do I need to rest some during the day? I just laid down because I am so tired and wore out. Is it the liquid diet or the surgery? Thanks for your thoughts and advise.

My opinion only, but yes you did overdo it. You are supposed to be resting, not running others around., no offense to your moms needs, but someone else needs to be taking care of her AND you this week while you rest and recover. Others need to step up to the plate while you heal. Just sayin........... rest, fluids, walk...........repeat.........good luck !

My husband told his boss that he'd be working from home for at least two weeks after my surgery. My surgeon and the nursing staff told us several times that even though this is an out patient surgery, it IS a major surgery and that I need to take it easy. When I told my surgeon that my son wanted to know how long we have to wait before we can go swimming. He very pointedly told me that there will be NO swimming or any other heavy / strenuous activity until he releases me. He made it clear that he would begin making these decisions at my 2 week post-op appointment.

So. Yes. you over did it. You need to sit back and relax while your other family members take care of things. That includes driving.

Yep. What they said. I was happy to go back to my desk job the Monday after my Thursday outpatient surgery, but everything else I did, like stairs, lifting, bending, etc was tiring. I waited four weeks for my Aqua Zumba class and still felt sore and tired afterward. Our bodies have been traumatized whether we admit it or not. Take it easy. But do walk. That will help your healing.

This checking in with yourself and how you're feeling is going to serve you well -- really taking the time to notice what's going on with your body is key to the process of learning about the band. For people who always did too much it can be hard to slow down. I was definitely some one who responded to demands of the people around me way before taking care of myself. When I decided to get banded I realized I was choosing myself first and committing to my health, my life, my future. Funny thing is all my loved ones are benefitting from this "me first" attitude because I am just so positive and happy and productive now. Rest when you need to rest, and the rest will take care of itself. Best wishes to you!

I was exhausted for a while after my surgery, My Surgeon said it will take 6-8 weeks to get back to feeling normal again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
