Pain first fill

Recommended Posts

I went to my Doctor today he told me he gave me 2 cc when I got the band (surgery) that explain a lot how I was feeling. Today he put 1 in half cc he told I have 3 in a half cc. I'm really uncomfortable is this normal after a fill? I'm going to start shakes for a few days then start back with solids. Thank you for your replies.

yes it is normal to have your stoma become a bit swollen with fills. most doctors put you on a liquid diet for 48 hours and than soft for a few days to give your band a chance to adjust. remember, whenever you are tight it is always good to go on liquids you will be going back and forth a lot.

I consider that brief 'relative rest' time with liquids/mushy phases essential to my own comfort level after fills.

The discomfort can be aggravated by trying to eat the same solids as pre-adjustment.

I had a 1cc fill last Thursday. Four days after fill, I still was having problems with being able to eat solids and drink fluids. I went back in Monday and they removed .6cc. I felt so much better immediately. At first I thought it was just swelling and I had to let it go down, but after not getting liquids down I knew I had to call dr office. Listen to your body, follow your after fill instructions. it is a little uncomfortable after a fill, but only for a day or so. Good luck.

I have to 2nd this decision that catlover did. I didn't follow this and ended up having bigger problems. if after a few weeks of adjusting and you are not it is time to get a unfill. bad things can happen over time.
