Is aspirin ever ok again?

Has anyone been told if it's okay to go back to taking a baby aspirin at some point?

Talk to your doctor about what may be the "best" NSAID to take if you really really need to. I'm thinking aspirin is not at the top of that list since it's so "good" at causing ulcers that researchers used to administer aspirin to induce ulcers on purpose in order to study ulcer treatment medications.

My surgeon actually sent us home with a sublingual NSAID (supradol) that is less irritating to our sleeves. I picked up extra while I was down in TJ so I'd have it for future use if needed.

I agree with Kindle, your doc is the best source for info. But having said that, I've taken ibuprofen, asprin, acetomenifin, excedrine, tylenol... I can take any over the counter pain reliever. I did not start taking them till at least 4 months post-op. Before that, I only took Tylenol as directed by my doctor.

I was sleeved 4/1/14 and I was back to taking 325mg Aspirin daily due to a heart condition as soon as I got home. My surgeon was fine with it. I haven't had any problems or complications at all... he did say that I should avoid any additional NSAIDs though.

I am currently taking a baby aspirin due to a heart condition. I wax told to stop it ten days prior to surgery. They did say I could go back on them at some point after but they would instruct me as to when. My surgery is Sept 4th. What stage are you at right now?

My husband and I are both on 1 81 mg aspirin a day as a blood thinner, for heart problems, with doctor approval. Good luck everyone.

I am taking a low dose aspirin (81mg) every day.I did have a blood clot and took Coumadin for six months. Both the surgeon and the PCP told me to keep doing this. I've had no issues.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
