Recommended Posts

Had surgery 2 weeks ago. Every time I eat (egg, tuna salad, ) I feel dizzy, bad. I have to wait minutes to feel better. It's that normal? I want to eat food!!!! Please I need someone who had surgery a while ago and tell me that has been able to ENJOY the food!

I had surgery on 7/24 and even though I am on liquids, I did dabble in solids twice and I ate tuna, and pork and had no problems as well as turkey pepperoni. You may just be a slower healer. I'm sticking with my liquids and taking it slow just in case.

I was not allowed any food for the first 10 days. Just Water and broth. Thankfully I had no desire for food. Now 19 days later I'm still on pureed food and keeping it very simple. Cream of wheat, applesauce and pureed chicken Soup. Plus two shakes a day. I'm having a really difficult time eating all this food. I have to constantly watch the clock and schedule a meal. I'm having and even more difficult time with the 64 ozs of water. I have no idea how people are doing it.

You will eventually enjoy food again but right now you need to focus on not making yourself sick. Worry about enjoyment later. eggs and meat are two things that are notorious for causing problems early on. Try other things that might be easier on your stomach. If you are not lactose intolerant, try a few bites of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Maybe some refried Beans. Try the ricotta bake from TheWorldAccordingtoEggface's blog. If eating solid food is still giving you problems, go back to lots of full liquids (protein shakes) for a couple of weeks and then try again. Not everyone is ready for solids so soon after surgery. You may also want to discuss with your surgeon if you are still having problems tolerating soft foods after trying different things. Good luck!

Can you describe the symptoms a little better?

Is it just dizziness or are you eperiencing pain?

The dizziness may indicate something not stomach stage related

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
