I was sleeved 7/28 and doing well. I'm tired, but that's pretty normal. Otherwise, I am doing all I should and getting my liquids and protien in.

My issue now is that my incisions ITCH. I no longer have the steri-strips on, but these guys itch like crazy at the slightest contact (or not). Any suggestions?? I copvered a couple just so that I could wear a shirt. :D

I have yet to actually have the WLS but I did get my Gallbladder taken out two months ago and have the same five incisions on my stomach. Unfortunately your incisions are still kind of fresh and there is nothing you can do right now but after they start closing up good in a couple weeks my surgeon told me to put coco butter lotion on them. To this day I still have itching with the incision that was inside of my belly button.

Unless there are obvious signs of an allergic reaction or brewing infection, the itching is a result of nerve fibers healing in your skin. Perfectly normal. Keep an eye on them and ask your doctor if you can put a small amount of hydrocortisone cream / ointment on the surronding skin; not on the surgical sites themselves obviously! Oral (not topical) Benadryl can also help.

I am itchy as well and I am two weeks out today. Went to Dr. for post op appt. down 21 pounds. He said I am allergic to the adhesive they used to help the steri strips stay attached. He said use a Hydrocortizone creme.

I was sleeved on 07/28 as well and my incisions itch like crazy too, I just use some anti itch cream and it helps out a lot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
