September surgery

Recommended Posts

Anyone having surgery in September? Just got my date and overwhelmed with emotions!

I am having surgery on the 39th, this is day four. No having any problems. Can't wait to get this process over, and get life back too somewhat normal.

Going in tomorrow (9/29) for a revision from lap band to RNY. I haven't posted much but wanted to thank you all for sharing your stories. Reading about other people going through the same things, asking the questions I've wanted to know, providing advice and just sharing their stories is so invaluable. So thanks y'all! Will check in soon on the other side of this!

Lap Band 2009 - 250 pounds

Stayed at 220 for 5 years

Well folks...I'm no longer a September surgery. :( I've had to change my date to October 7th. I am getting a cold and am being put on antibiotics. I'm hoping this will do the trick!!

I'm sooooo happy to read that all of the September surgeries went well and everyone is doing better. It's so awesome to be apart of this group.

My update: It's been 19 days post op and I'm finally feeling a little normal. I've lost 22lbs... I still have some pain in the left side of my belly but I think it's more gas then anything else.

I'm really looking forward to drinking more then 2 oz of Water every 15 mins. And eating solid foods in a few months. I'm having better days then bad and I've learned to eat more Protein in the morning in order to feel better through out the day. ????

Had surgery sept 30. I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks. I have always been a big eater so those 2 weeks were hell! BUT it all worked in my favor. Optifast shakes are delicious. I quit craving sugar! I quit caffeine!! I quit any sodas just did not want them??? Now 4 days post op i thought i could hurry the full liquid thing up a bit. Had 2 spoonfuls pudding and my stomach cramped for hours. Took the desire to eat right away.

Hello September folks! How are things going? How's the food? The weight? The new lifestyle without sugar? Any struggles? Any concerns?

Hey fab@@forty! Thanks for asking! I am doing pretty good. I was sleeved sept 11th and as of today I have lost a total of 36 pounds! I still have a ways to go, but definitely feeling more energetic! However, I am having such a hard time eating slow and not having anything to drink with my meals. I just had my 6 week follow up and the dr said I should be consuming around 1400 calories a day. I'm nowhere near 1400 calories a day. I'm lucky if I'm able to get in around 700 at most. How are things with you? Any struggles?

Wow, 36lbs! That's awesome! Well, I am definitely with you on the 30/30 rule. I am so used to drinking and eating, so that is a huge struggle for me. I think on most days I get between 500 - 700 calories. I forget to eat and I dislike a couple of my Vitamins (they are so chalky)! I have lost a total of 50 lbs (pre op - 25 lbs and post op - 25 lbs). My surgery was on 9/16 and I have stalled a bit, but I feel the changes in my clothes! My 6 week follow up is next week and I am ready for my Dr to tell me I can go back to the gym full time! I am ready to drop some more lbs!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
