September surgery

@@arialuvr I am the 16th! Are you ready?

I'm getting ready! Drinking my shakes. Cleaning house. I'm excited and scared to death @ same time. Thank God for my boyfriend, he's been so supportive. Daughter thinks I shouldn't go through with it. She's only a teenager and I'm sure she's scared for me.

My Surgery is the 15th! ???? I am on day 2 of my liquid diet!! What an eye opener this is!!! I've been making videos and taking pictures for my own use to look back on, I look at the 15th as the first day of the rest of my life!

My mom had gastric bypass in March and is down 70 lbs, and her BMI is 29 now! She's totally off all of her diabetic, BP, and other Meds and doing awesome, so we really have a lot to look forward to!!! ????

You go girl! My surgery is 9/15 too!

Yay! So tomorrow is my last day of thqr liquids! Almost over and I just completed my per surgery appointment- blood work and etc. Can't believe I have 2 days left until surgery. So for the next two days I'm going to relax and not stress about anything. I hope everyone is having a great day/night! ????

I don't know about anyone else, but I've had a hard time not eating. I can only have banana and sugar free Jello. I despise both! Yuck! So, I have been hungry since day 5! Don't get me wrong, I am not all out eating, but I have cheated a bit(no sugar or caffeine only salads and proteins)! I know that is not what my dr wants to hear, but I was starving! Ugh! Anyway, I am back on the wagon and I hope to make it through the next 6 days without cheating.

My date is set for 9/22, but that was originally for a sleeves after my endo, my surgeon said he recommends the bypass. I meet with my surgeon tomorrow so I hope this won't change the date. Today I'd day two of my preop diet. I was really hungry yesterday, but I'm feeling better today. Let's do this!

I have found the black cherry in the Sf jello is the only one I like! I would probably just kill for a scrambled egg right now- funny how your brain works. I know most is mind over matter but dang it I'm a little hungry!!! I haven't cheated or strayed once, and that's hard considering I have to cook for my son & pack his lunch. I just wanted to lick the Peanut Butter off the butter knife so bad but I fought the urge.

This constant headache too, that stinks!!

But enough of my complaining- day 5 is in the books, I've prayed for the last year for this surgery, I'm not going to let 5 more days stop me!!!

Y'all are right, we've got this!!! Let's keep each other going, esp since it's getting tough on us!! ????????

So I just got my confirmation yesterday for my Sept. 30 date. I'm both excited and scared! Questions started whirling around in my head! What ifs, shoulds, shouldn'ts...then I remembered the reasons I'm on this wonderful life-altering journey and I calmed down. Still nervous and excited but confident as well. :)

You can do it! My surgeon says he fixes a lot of esophagus issues post sleeve so if your endoscopy came back with issues I would take his recommendation. There is a lot of gas & reflux with the sleeve a lot more then with the bypass, plus he feels more confident with the bypass results where as with the sleeve it's still "new". I wish you luck I would think you'd still get the same date the operating date the time from what in understand is the same for each surgery in the OR.

Hi September surgery friends! Is anyone else worried about the statistics for total weight loss after surgery? I'm obsessing, worrying... The stats say average weight loss after one year is 62%! I have 100 lbs to lose so applying that stat to me would mean only 62 lbs. I think I really need a support group to actually go to for help. Anyone else have this concern? Do any of you know of a support group in Orange County, CA?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
