HELP! Have to eat out tomorrow for the first time and

Recommended Posts

I need help picking what to eat (luckily the menu is online and they serve Breakfast all day). I'm in the soft mechanical stage, so the stage right after puree...

Here are some options, what do you think? (I would skip stuff like english muffin, potatoes, corn, tortilla chips...but would eat the eggs, cheese, salsa, MAYBE a small bite of the veggies and chew thoroughly)

A) Southwest Potato Frittata

Potato, Roasted Corn, Pepper & Onion, Black Beans Cooked into an Open omelet with Pepperjack Cheese on Top, served with a Side of Salsa. Sorry the Potatoes are in the Omelet.

B) New Orleans Omelet

Peppers, Marinated Mushrooms and Pepperjack Cheese Make This a Favorite Omelet.

C) California Eggs Benedict

Avocado and Tomato with 2 Poached Eggs and Hollandaise Sauce on an English Muffin.

D) Texas Eggs

Eggs Scrambled with Salsa, Roasted Corn, Pepper, Onion, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese and Tortilla chips Over Home Fries

E) chicken Breast with a Mushroom Brie Glaze

Tender Chicken Breast draped in a Mushroom Brie Glaze.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

I would probably pick your favorite. Definitely stay away from the hollandaise sauce, corn and chips. YOu are on soft foods right?

Sounds like you like B so have it. When I was at your stage I would ask for a second plate and pre portion what I would eat and have the rest wrapped to go. Remember to eat slowly and enjoy the company. food isn't the focus anymore. Put down your fork between bites. Eating out is fun and cheap - if you can find someone to share with. I often order off the kids menu (if they have healthy choices). Have fun and enjoy the process.

I think any of those are fine choices. I would go for E personally as I am not an egg person. But if you do go for chicken sometimes breast can be dry. Thigh tends to be a juicier choice and easier to go down.

If you like eggs, and I do, pick B. It looks the most gentle. I m only 11 weeks out and have been faced with a farewell and welcome public lunch in the last month after I left one job and took another so remember....if you are still on soft food, two eggs are a lot!!!. Talk a lot, take your time and I honestly got extra napkins because I actually spit out a few bites when I wiped my mouth so the plate would look different and I would not get sick. One bite too much could be embarrassing and it can happen real fast. Enjoy the outing and the people. You can do it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
