Buddah 11 Posted August 6, 2014 The Visit was good. My surgeon was concerned with my G.E.R.D. so he did a small endoscopy with local numbing. Let me tell you that was very uncomfortable. It made me gag and then vomit up the concoction they made me drink for the H Pylori Test. He stated that I had a severe hernia and that I would need to have my esophageal valve reconstructed. Because of this he wanted to do a Duodenal Switch. I still have 6 months of weight management that I have to do before the surgery. But I would say that It was a good visit. moose18201 24 Posted August 6, 2014 That's good news, now you know what you need to do. I have acalasia , some muscle in my esophagus go the wrong way and the valve has hardened. My surgeon is going to both procedures when he does the RNY. Six months sounds long but it goes pretty fast. My last visit is next thurs. Then I hope to get my date. Good luck with your journy. Buddah 11 Posted August 6, 2014 I was glad to know what needs to be done. It does freak me out a little. The Duodenal Switch seems scary because of the extent of the malabsorption as well and the time it will take in surgery to correct all the problems, increases my risk. I have faith in my surgeons ability. He is in a center of Excellence and these are the only type of procedures they do. They have a outstanding success rate.
