BOCA BURGERS and protein in place of real hamburger

Recommended Posts

My nut mentioned BOCA burgers to me as a way to get a real burger feel, Protein and easier to digest vs hamburger. I bought the traditional ones, 15 grams of protein, added 1 ounce of sliced sharp 2% cheddar which brought it over 20 grams of protein and it was wonderful.

I've been eating Boca burgers for most of my life! I don't like hamburger, usually replace it with ground turkey in recipes, but if I'm wanting a burger, they do the trick, and are a little easier to prepare than a turkey burger. They also make something called Smart ground, I think, that is the same type of Protein as the Boca burgers, but in ground-up form. It works well for chili, stuffed peppers, meat sauce... if you'd rather not go the ground turkey route.

Unfortunately it's been hit-or-miss since surgery whether the Boca burgers agree with me. I think that has more to do with the mustard and pickles I like to eat on them, though. I'm still not doing that well with spicier stuff.

Thanks for the feedback, and I hope you get back to being able to enjoy them again. For now I just eat the original version but look forward to trying other flavors soon

I have discovered that if you let them thaw out, and then flatten them out with a meat pounder (or slice them down the middle like a bagel,) then pan-toast them until crispy, they work great as a cracker type bread. Tonight I topped a flattened with all the pizza fixings and it worked great as the Pizza Crust. But very filling.
