When Did Most People Reach The Green Zone?

Recommended Posts

I'd say about four months for me. My surgeon did small frequent fills and we kept at it until I got there. Then once in the zone -- and it is a zone, not one perfect place -- I have had to go back again after a few months for an additional small fill. Altogether I've had seven or eight now. Some people have none! When I first had surgery I didn't have hunger for a few weeks. That was a taste of the green zone for me, that appetite monster off of my back. A disinterest in food. I thought maybe I'd never need a fill and now I'm probably at the most ever. Really, you will get there. My advice is to keep all of your appointments and have good dialogue with your surgeon to assess the need for a fill. Mine was looking for satiety after a tennis-ball sized portion (his lingo) for 4-5 hours. Also I have really worked on separating out habitual eating, stress eating and real hunger and I'm kind of a health food type so I eat very well already. I just ate way too much!

That GREEN ZONE is one fickle place to find..... I thought I was in it TWICE, only to realize that it had eluded me yet again. I think I was seven months out and had six fills before I found it. Just got "tweaked" again with another small fill on Tuesday though. I was told that for some people, they may need a slight fill adjustment after being in the GREEN as they continue to lose weight. I don't know...... I just keep trying to uphold my committment to :

1. Exercise daily,

2. Make follow-up appointments every six weeks,

3. Make good food choices 90% of the time, and

4. Enjoy my current weight loss !

I had a tiny 0.25 cc fill yesterday. That's three for me making 7.25 in my 14 band. I'm almost five months post op. I can still swallow Tylenol caplets so I'm good. Stil on liquids until dinner tonight. The fluoroscopy room was in use when I arrived so this time my fill was done without it. But it went fine. I actually swallowed my Tylenol pills as a post fill test while she watched. I asked why some people need adjustments long after finding their green zone. She said the stomach doesn't stay the same size over time. Because it expands and contracts it gets used to lower or bigger amounts of food over time. That of course can affect how tight the band is at any given time. Made sense to me. This is a lifelong process and as long as I stay connected to my doctor and get fills as needed, I expect the best outcome.

Took me 4-5 fills. My green zone is 6.25 CCs in a 10 CC band. It can be frustrating during the process. It took a lot of Fluid before I felt any restriction.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
