I have been very lucky with very minimal pain. But I am having a hard time drinking enough, I drink my Protein I found some that has 42 g per 3.1 oz which I mix with Water. But can barely do 1oz in 15 min otherwise it feels like it is clogged and need to burp. so I have got my protein in , but falling short of my 64 oz each day, not that I am not trying

I would like to go to full liquids but am kind of scared and need to make sure I get my protein in, and I am not sure if I will be able to do anything more as the water makes me feel like that.

Did anyone else experience this? My doc did have a hard time doing my band because I have a great deal of belly fat, so he did say it was much harder to do my surgery. I am wondering if it might be my stomach is just still so swelled from the surgery and this will soon stop feeling like this.

I read of people who eat actual food and I just dont see how that is even in my future the way I feel now.

Please give me some insight.

Thanks

Hi Lost,

I was banded in Feb. from what you have described, it sounds like you have a lot of swelling going on. I would stay with the liquids until you can get more Fluid down the hatch. My surgeon had me on full liquids for two weeks.

I'd like to make a suggestion, first your body can only absorb 30 grams of Protein at once, so don't buy anything over 35 grams a serving. The first two weeks it's difficult to get in your Protein, then after that it's not so hard. My surgeon said that if I could get at least 35 grams in a day he would be happy, but encouraged me to get 60-70 grams. Protein will help with hunger and help you to regain your strength after surgery.

Take a medicine cup and sip your liquid or protein, or simply serve yourself a couple of ounces in a small glass.

My personal favorite Protein Drink was Boost. It wasn't thick and tasted good. After three weeks I switched over to Designer whey Protein, a powder that I blend into shakes.

I started soft foods by week three and I was so ready for food. My advices is to not stress about your liquid intake, just eat a lot of good soup/broth, popsicles, sf fudge bars, drink protein and Water.

Good Luck on your journey, I hope you feel better today!

Another option for getting in your Protein - 4 oz. of sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast. Make it with 1% milk. Sip 4 oz every 2 hours. Sip Water in between. You'll get all of your protein (6 grams per 4 oz of CIB) and it won't feel overwhelming trying to drink it all at once.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
