Any more Waldorfians out there?

Hello Chanda and Tina,

You newbies need to chill out. First of all you dont wanna lose the weight too fast cause then you will learn how to eat around your band. Secondly, dont just depend on the band, it is a tool, not to be used by itself. You will need some will power, good eating choices and exercise to make this surgery work for you. Now that the older and more wiser has spoken I am gonna go and pick at a lil bit of lunch myself. Oh and by the way, once you get filled to your sweet spot you wont need fills for months. My last fill was March 20 and I am still tight as a tick.

Tanya,

Thanks for bringing us back down to earth!

With us seeing the scale move for this first time in years, it's just all so exciting. Makes you just anxious to keep it going!

That's why we have you our resident "Veteran Waldorfian"!

Thanks also for the insight on the "sweet spot". That sure gives us something to look forward too.

My husband actually asked me late last night if I would have to go for a fill every few weeks for the rest of my life. And I tried to answer him but really wasn't sure. It's like now after I am over 2 weeks out, he wants to now ask all types of questions about the Lapband as if I am now the expert. I am wondering where were you when I wanted you to ask these pertinent questions before the surgery. I guess either he didn't know what to ask or he didn't want to upset me beforehand. Men I tell you, got to love them.

Take care,

Chanda

Tanya,

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I have known all along that the band is simply a tool and will power is the greatest thing. I think that my will power has completely changed or I wouldn't be where I am right now. Obviously, it took quite a bit to lose 45 pounds without the help of the band. Working out at least three times a week and completely changing my eating habits have been the key to my success so far. I just can't wait until I get a little assistance from the band. I know that it takes time, and I'm willing to wait until it kicks in...just gets a little hard sometimes. I sit here wondering why I have never lost this weight before like I have now and the only answer that I can come up with is... I have changed my life, my exercise habits, my diet...all because I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel...I have a tool inside of me that one day will take effect and help me in this journey. Every once in a while I have to rant about the difficulties with all of this...but in the end...all is good. Take care and good to hear from you. :biggrin1:

Chanda & Tina,

Take your time!!! Thats the only thing I am trying to impress upon you. You dont want to lose too fast and you want to learn how to eat and do it healthy. Both of you will do just fine. I am here for you for any type of encouragement or fussing at that either of you need.

Teresita,

Long time no hear from. I missed you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
