Best Tasting Chicken Broth?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the liquid diet stage and chicken broth is so bland. Does anyone have some brands they've found taste better than others?

Different doctors might have different ideas, but I always had to add some salt to my broth to be able to get it down. I tried some of the more expensive kinds (Rachel Ray has some and Wolfgang Puck) but they were all still just chicken broth. :(

I ordered the sample pack from injury and found their chicken broth pleasant. Hope I still do post op because I ordered a tub!

I find other broths blah. So I may as well get some Protein in too!

Thank you! I have a couple samples of the Unjury broth that I haven't tried yet. Hopefully it's good! I didn't care for any of the other flavors :( I was thinking of springing for the more expensive brand name broths as well, good to know they're still just broth lol!

I made ramen without the noodles. Sometimes I added tofu that I whirred in the blender. I thought the Unjury was a waste.

Two days after my surgery the hospital gave me lukewarm chicken broth. When it touched my lips I was feeling well enough to go home. I almost walked home. At home it is low-sodium Campbell's with white pepper.

I take regular low salt chicken broth and simmer it with a bag of frozen Soup veggie mix and a clove or two of garlic, and then drain off the vegetables. It makes it taste more like chicken soup and less like chicken broth.

That sounds like a great idea!!

I didn't like the different kinds of chicken broth I tried after surgery, until one day I was searching the chicken broth shelf for something new and noticed that the next shelf over had Mrs Grass noodle soup! I just made the Soup and didn't add the noodles! Mrs Grass became a staple for me in the beginning!!

I found the tasty chicken broth had lots of salt. After about a week I felt like a salt lick and searched out the lowest sodium both /soups I could find. Now at 8 eek post op I am letting a little salt back in, but it is suprising how little I use anymore. I hardley exceed 1200 MG per day. 2000 is were the FDA sets the normal level.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
