First time foamies (gross)

Recommended Posts

I have said that after 5 months I sometimes forget I have had surgery because I am so into the routine of what I eat but I guess I forgot yesterday. I fixed a peach, small pieces and a small amount of cottage cheese. I was sitting at the table and TALKING to my husband while I ate and about half way through I got an awful pain but could not pinpoint exactly where it was. I stopped eating. Then for about the next 15 minutes I had that salivating feeling we get before we throw up, I was unsuccessful in doing so but I knew something was stuck so I finally made myself throw up and was shocked to see it looked like a raw egg dropped in Water, just a small pc of peach and lots of slime. I googled it and read this was "foamies" because something had stuck and my esophagus was producing lots of saliva to get it moved. It took about another hour for the pain to go away after that but you can bet your sweet bippy I will be more careful. All this time I have been so fortunate to have none of this, even after eating meat, and no nausea or vomiting at all. Consider this a friendly reminder that we have had our guts rearranged!!

It's like your food is totally encapsulated in it. At 9 months, I sometimes forget to slow down and chew thoroughly. Whatever I ate yesterday (chicken, fingerling potatoes, and some cauliflower/broccoli mixture) made me so sick. I really didn't eat a lot, but ended up throwing up 6+ times over the rest of the day. That was a birthday luncheon. As we get further out, I sometimes forget all the things I need to do, even feel like I slip back into old habits. So scary. My warning for overeating is I start to burp. Sometimes it happens and I have hardly eaten anything. Sometimes it amazes me that it doesn't start and I eat more than I thought I would. Day to day are so totally different sometimes.

I still don't eat many vegetables. My doctor warned me that broccoli stems and cauliflower stems could hang, so if I eat those at all, I make sure they are cooked. I still haven't tried salad. I keep my meals pretty simple and sure learned from that one time incident.....

The little that I ate was well cooked. Some people have talked about coconut, having problems with it. My fingerlings were cooked in coconut oil, so I am wondering if that could have been it? Don't really know. Ate more of those than anything else, but still did not overeat that much.

I'm 14 months post op so I know what I can and can't do, but every once in a while I forget or get lazy and then I get that 'friendly reminder' you mentioned. :-)

I don't think the coconut oil would be a problem. My doctor did tell me he had a patient who ate too much coconut and had to be "cleaned out".

Thanks, guess I was just having an off day. Need those reminders every once in a while.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
