Protein Supplements: GNC 54 gm Powder

Recommended Posts

I did not read through all the posts so sorry if this is a repeat of someone elses post.

I buy my Protein mix at GNC. It has 50 grams of Protein per serving. 210 calories. and no carbs.

It is called Zero Carb Isopure. Great flavors. You can buy it at GNC store or at GNC.com.

Gahhhh... Isopure! That stuff is nasty, how do you get it down? You said yours is a mix, as in not bottles of nasty flavored liquids?

My doc insists on Isopure for everyone so last time I was in Mexicali I brought two flavors with me, Papaya/Banana and Green Apple. After trying them and complaining that his throat felt slimy two hours after drinking them, he change the protein to nectar by Syntrax (makes of Matrix). Heh... all docs should have to follow their own pre-op and post-op diets for a while.

Hi Everybody===My 2 cents on Protein shakes is I have some called XS Protein Shakes and they come in a can already mixed just chill and go,my fav is choc fudge.35 grams protein-220 cal if anyone would like some more info on them feel free to email me terri.mike@sbcglobal.net

Hmmm.. no thanks. Too much Protein per serving. Your body can't absorb that much in one sitting, you would either have to burn it off or it would turn to fat. I prefer Matrix at 23gms protein and 120 calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
