ttwoj12 0 Posted April 29, 2007 I'm new. I haven't been banded yet; still waiting for insurance clearance and proving of medical necessity for the insurance to approve it, but the process is started. Is anyone an emotional eater; and if so, how do you get beyond/deal with that after the surgery?
ragdollx19 1 Posted April 29, 2007 I just wanted to wish you luck, I am waiting on insurance approval as well. My paperwork was sent on Friday. I didnt realize how much of an emotional eater I am until I really started getting serious about lap band. Now I have been noticing when I eat because I am bored or upset. Usually for me it is sweets. I know I can win this battle but really believe the lap band will help me win it.
edieparks 2 Posted April 30, 2007
TTwo,

For me I focused on exercise. I guess it doesn't happen for everyone but I would spend about 2 hours a day walking . I walked my dog, myself and 2 friends separately who wanted to take off weight and did not or could not afford the lapband.

The exercise along with the band started the lbs coming off and of course that made me feel emotionally BETTER.

Even if I did some emotional eating ( few chips or extra fudge bar) , all that exercise helped me deal with the sort of "cheating".

I thought your thread was interesting but I think we are ALL emotional eaters or we wouldn't be obese.

I think most of us bandsters have had to come up with something to take the place of eating .

My house is cleaner and I am more social now too.

Good luck ,

edie
