I had a kind of scary moment last night. I'm 3 months postop VSG. I was at a friend's house with my husband having a glass of wine (something I've had before with no problems).

I started getting extremely sweaty (like excessively sweaty, WAY MORE than I ever experience exercising), so I took off my jacket. I knew something was weird because it wasn't hot at all. I was then having chills all over my body, my heart was pounding, and felt dizzy like I was going to pass out; could barely walk to the car. It was hard to keep my head up. I had my husband drive me home and I went straight to bed. I feel much better this morning, but it was really out of the ordinary for me.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what this could be?

So no one tells me something I don't already know...Yes. I'm contacting my doctor later today.

Sounds like dumping syndrome.

You can still get dumping with the sleeve.

Interesting. It's never happened before so I was pretty surprised! Thanks for replying!

Dumping is diarrhea and that was not mentioned.

Several other posts have these exact symptoms and more like reactive hypoglycemia where too much or little sugar in the system and insulin is released.

It could be dehydration...But you also need to consider that it maybe Hypoglycemia. Both act similar and alcohol has a lot of sucrose in it! :(

If you do have dehydration. G2 or coconut Water will help.

I had this happen to me once when my son was in the emergency room and I didn't eat all day. Low blood sugar, as soon as I ate something I was better. Be careful in the early months when you don't feel hungry, it's easy to forget to eat.

complex carbs will work best....Orange juice and then some multi-grain crackers and cheese. Or toast and peanut butter.....You will have to switch to 3 meals and 3 snacks.....Check it out with your nut though and as one who is battling it myself. It is scary, I get it so bad I pass out! yikes!

She didnt mention what or when she ate last so id lean more towards a glycemia issue.

And again with the dumping syndrome. With sleeve patients it is very, very rare to have this. And its usually brought on by eating extreme amounts of sugar's. I am sure there are individual cases where its triggered by less but again its pretty rare.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
