bluesclues 49 Posted July 31, 2014 I'm 4 weeks post op and feel like I'm always hungry and eating! I've been seeing people post that they can't eat more then 1/2 a Protein Bar and I can finish one in a sitting. I'm getting all my Protein in, still need to work on adding more water/liquids though. I've started adding normal food as well and measuring it and measure out 1-2 oz and I'm still hungry so I take out another ounce or so. Is this normal? I've emailed my NUT and she said it's fine. Been tracking my calories and it varies day to day. Yesterday ate a lot...I just don't get it? I do have diabetes type 1, so my insulin and blood sugars are still a bit difficult to get under control. I've lost 13 lbs. so far. Any advice/feedback or suggestions? I am a bit worried now. Thanks! sleevie.wonder 306 Posted August 1, 2014 Are you on any type of antacid? Acid mimics hunger. Like a lot. You could be dealing with head hunger as well. If your nut says what you're doing is ok then you can't be doing much wrong. Everyone's experiences are different. Just keep counting those calories and make sure they're healthy calories. Remember that the honeymoon phase doesn't last forever and this is the prime time to lose the majority of your weight and train yourself to eat healthy so that it will stay off in the long run. 1 MaggieAL reacted to this

Yes, I am taking Omeprazol 40 mg. When I feel like it's head hunger, I have Water. But eat when I feel hungry. Maybe I need to switch to a different antacid. thanks
erp 2,016 Posted August 1, 2014 Thirst acts like hunger as well. Start by hitting your liquid goal to see if it helps. Focus on dense Protein to reach satiety.
par1959 470 Posted August 1, 2014 Your question really means nothing without knowing the calorie count. Share that info with your NUT for a comprehensive answer. My guess if you stay between 1000 and 1200 cals per day you will lose weight fast.
