I am sure who ever said 'My eyes are bigger than my belly' must have had WLS

Today I baked chicken drum sticks and once they were done I bounced down to the Kitchen to get my dinner!

I placed 3 drumsticks on my plate and sat down to eat them-not a thought in my head that I could not possible eat 3 drumsticks

I ate one and started in on the second when I realized I was full and I could not even eat the second one let alone the 3rd

Previously I would have wolfed down 3 and got back for another now-this is what WLS has done for me!

My eyes are definitely bigger than my belly!

I still get hungry that hasn't changed for me but the difference is no matter how hungry I am, a few bites in and I am satisfied

Wow! I'm amazed you let yourself plop three of those bad boys down on your plate before you'd realized what you did!

Maybe it's just me... but I have learned the hard way so many times (and will continue to...) that doing that is just silliness! Too many impromptu "excuse me's" and darting straight to the porcelain god to count!

Cheers to you and your continued efforts toward awesomeness (and learning as we go!) :D

So glad others are having this issue too. I just started real food . I put it off because I was so afraid of over eating. Was I surprised to find I couldn't over eat. I finally am starting to trust my surgery and listen to what my stomach is telling me. I am one month today and tried a chewing food for the first time. I thought well I will mix tuna, mayo and cottage cheese. I got three bites down and had to stop. So glad I did this because I really can't trust myself to limit what I eat, I needed this surgery. I haven't had a weight loss stall yet and have lost 2 lbs a week for the last two weeks. I was feeling sad about it but realize I am still going down. So happy I finally did it.

i had the same issue for a while. now i think my brain is starting to catch on and i'm taking smaller portions. but still, i take more than i can eat every time.

it's sort of embarrassing to have work luncheons when the food is brought in, take a plate, and have to throw most of it out... getting better though, and i'm 6 wks out...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
