Fell off the wagon/Pre-op diet (Aug. 11 sleeve)

Recommended Posts

I'm posting because y'all have become a great source of support for me.

I am on Day 3 of my 14-day Pre-op Diet and I am feeling physically ill right now.

I fell off the wagon tonight. I'm supposed to have 2 Protein Drinks and one sensible meal per day.

Today I had one drink, a chicken caesar salad for lunch, and a turkey sandwich, with frito corn chips, slice of cherry pie with scoop of vanilla ice cream for dinner. Is your mouth gaped open? I feel so sick. I WILL get back on track tomorrow.

I'm under a lot of stress at work and personally. I realized that I ate today to comfort myself and to handle the stress.

Then EUREKA! It hit me again-- this is how I've gotten into the condition I'm in now.

Y'all, pray for me. Please tell me how you're handling your pre-op diet!

You'll be ok because you recognize what you've done. No worries, just get back to it and don't be discouraged. Before you know it, your habits will change for the better. Stay focused & good luck to you.

My best thoughts going out for these days to fly by for you and to keep you on track.

When I was pre-op and felt like cheating HARD I would get out of my house in some way or I'd call a friend and talk talk talk until I was distracted. It's not easy, but so worth it.

You've got this. You do.

I too fell off the pre-op diet wagon, fortunately I was able to limit myself to eating only lean Protein. Work to get back on track, it is soooo worth it!!

To me, the pre-op diet was harder than the surgery and recovery. But 1 week post-op, I could tell that mentally, things had changed. I no longer obsessed over certain flavors and I have the "need" to eat every 2 hours.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
