Watching The Hours Tick By Until Surgery - 7/31

Recommended Posts

Got the call from my doctor's office this morning. I need to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 6:30 am for my procedure at 8:45. Very excited and a little nervous. Feel like I'm saying good bye to an old friend (85% of my stomach). Had a nice Breakfast this morning and now It's just liquids.< /p>

I started this journey in December of last year and now it's finally here. Feels strange yet exciting. Can't wait to drop the weight and get my health back. Looking forward to getting into some form fitting business suits and feeling like i want to look in the mirror again. Looking forward to looking forward to being in a picture when they are being taken instead of making excuses to be out of them. Looking forward to catching a glimpse of myself in a window or mirror reflection and being proud of what I see.

I know that the next few days won't be the easiest but will be well worth the pain for the lifetime of gain.

So tonight I put the patch on behind my ear, take a my blood pressure medication before leaving the house in the wee hours of the morning and head into a brighter future.

I've decided to wear my Superman baseball cap to the hospital tomorrow because that is how I hope to feel when I reach my goal.

Best of luck to everyone having their surgeries. See you all on the post op forums.

Well i made it through surgery and am now at home. I feel very blessed that my surgery was relatively pain free. No pain from the incisions and no gas pain at all. I have not had to take any pain medication. I'm struggling a little getting my liquid and Protein in. I'm using Isopure for that. I can only take it in small doses.

I was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon. I slept a little bit in my bed last night but after about three hours I got up and switched to my La-Z-Boy recliner and had a very nice sleep until 7 am this morning. I jumped on the treadmill and did about 10 minutes of slow walking. I'll repeat that process throughout the day. I gained 5 lbs from the IV solution in the hospital but have since dropped that weight and three pounds more.

Best of luck to everyone that has had their surgery or is about to have surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
