Recommended Posts

I just had the iBand placed 07/24/2014. Are there anymore like me out there?

I am a 28 year old female. I am 4'11" my BMI was 33.5 My pre op diet weight was 172. My surgery day weight was 168. Today I am 6 days post op and I am at 165. Am I on this journey alone?

If you are any type of band patient then post in the banders section as there are a lot of different types of bands ,you are not a gastric, sleeve Rny or other owls patient but you are a band patient I have talked with people that have plication with band and some of us are interested in the types of owls they do with the band now & for future patients ,they may be interested also, so jump on to the band site.

You are in good company -- some of Banders wish we had known about Plication. Not that we aren't doing beautifully, we are. But it seems like Plication reduces the need for fills. Keep chiming in -- we are glad you're here! Congratulations on your surgery, on choosing yourself and your healthy future.

@nerms-how are you feeling? I am one week post today and my shoulder pain is much improved, but my weight loss has only been 2lbs since surgery.. I know they say expect 1-3lbs per week so I am on track but with as little as I eat I figured it would be waaayy more. I have been weighing everyday and I think that is doing more damage than good. I think maybe I should only weigh on Thursdays. Any thoughts?

Hey Jess,

Definitely only weigh in once a week. You're only a week post op so chances are you're still healing and weight loss at this stage isn't expected. So that 2lb is a good thing. Just relax, give your body some time and you will see results :)

I'm fine, no shoulder pain anymore just pain at the incisions. I have to take my bandages off today so that will be fun. I haven't weighed myself and I don't plan on doing it any time soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
